Backed into the corner

Dreams, Visions & Other Visitations

Since my last writing, I have been seeing a corner, sensing that many seemed to have been backed into a corner with no way out.  Circumstances (people, money, or health issues, concerns about family members and children) have backed you into a corner and only God can get you out of it. Have you asked yourself how you were “backed into the corner”? Was it disobedience (delayed or blatant), failing to listen or bad decisions. Or is it just part of the process or journey toward destiny?  Perhaps it is a little of both or something else entirely. Or do you need to work with the process? Search deep within to see the real purpose of being “backed into the corner”. There is always a purpose.

As people of faith, we cannot be moved by what we see or judge the timing of God. We must simply make certain that we are not “holding up the show”. Just get it straight with Him and declare that you have clarity on the subject. Above all, do not judge the situation by what you see or hear.

Isa 11:3 3 And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears; AMP

As I am writing, I have begun to see two fighters in a boxing ring. From a natural perspective, it is an obvious mismatch –as if the heavy and lightweight challengers have been brought together. The crowd has placed their bets - the odds appeared totally against the contender. As I was looking at the hopeless match up, I began to see beyond the crowd into the upper realms above the room.

What I saw was reminiscent of the time in 2 Kings (6:15-17). The King of the Syrians pulled out the stops. After he discovered that a captain and 50 men could not do the job, he sent the entire army. As the Lord opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant, so He opened mine. I could see that though the odds looked in favor of the heavy weight and the enemy army was betting against Elisha, they were outnumbered.

2 Kings 6:15-17 …15  When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha's servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? 16[Elisha] answered, Fear not; for those with us are more than those with them. 17 Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man's eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Sometimes circumstance are allowed to come to “back us into a corner” so we will do that thing the Lord could not get us to do willingly. He always gets his way. God cannot allow us to go to a higher level if there are accounts unsettled. Many have left places and relationships –walked out of the doors without making amends. This does not mean that the people will ever accept your apology or explanation –but God does require us to walk out the door in faith and make a Godly exit. In other words, there are doors that you slammed on the way out. What I see is as when a child is mad, or upset, he slams the door when he leaves the room. It could have been in defiance; fear, disappointment or whatever else may come to mind. The parent calls them back in and says I will not allow you to leave the room in that manner. Let’s settle this so you may leave the room without slamming the door. God is calling some of us to go back through some doors and walk through them with a different attitude, having settled things. We can go back voluntarily or He will allow circumstances to force us to do so.

While other times, it is as though you have been placed there –backed into a corner by divine providence –a trophy in the hand of the Lord to show forth His glory in His timing of divine deliverance. Cooperate with the process and be the Godly example that He trusts you to be.

In Jude 3, we are exhorted to contend for the faith. We sense in this vision that though the contender was out ranked with the crowd betting against him, he stood in a place of victory. There is more with us than against us. Even though the enemy releases his entire arsenal against us –even though we “feel’ we are backed into the corner; Lord open our eyes.

Jude 3 [But] I found it necessary and was impelled to write you and urgently appeal to and exhort [you] to contend for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints [the faith which is that sum of Christian belief which was delivered verbally to the holy people of God]. AMP
