One day a friend asked me if God had shown me anything on the Ten Commandments. Something immediately stirred within me. Seeing the Ten Commandments proudly and prominently displayed in public places is “the Heart’s desire of Christians. Interestingly the Lord began speaking to me, “Write them on the Tablets of your heart”.  

Many perceive a significant decline in the moral and spiritual atmosphere in this nation since we removed the Ten Commandments from public institutions. God knows the end from the beginning, He was not surprised when America’s leaders compromised and joined with those who would rebel against His commandments. The decline really began when the leaders in homes forsook them …when parents stopped teaching the commandments to their children.

Neither should we have been surprised  when they were removed. Historically governments and rulers have rejected God. He never meant for His people to rely upon government to set their moral and spiritual cadence. He placed the responsibility upon us, when He said; “(you) write them on the tablets of your hearts … (You) teach them to your children … (You) write them on the posts of your house and on your gates. The message?? The scripture indicates that we should first display the commandments in our private domain. Public domain (the gates to the city) came second.

As I began to ponder the rendering, I knew that it would not be just “another plaque” with the Ten Commandments. We all know that Christians are trying to get them back into public schools. I could sense that God really wanted to speak to America. As I sat down and yielded to His heart, I began to see the glory of God pouring out on this nation. (Hab 2:14 KJV)  For the earth (nation) shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. I could see the washing of the water of the word. I could see the light shining through the night from above. I felt His appeal for believers in this nation to lead by example …post them on “our” walls. Greater still is His desire for His people to write the commandments on our heart.

This illustration proclaims that His word will forever be above whatever “man’s government” thinks it has imposed on this nation. We should not be moved by what we see as failure in the government. We were founded upon Godly principles and will forever remain one nation “Under God”. May it serve as a reminder to declare that …Americans will indeed know and live by His commandments. His influence will indeed manifest that God has and continues to bless America.

The glory of God truly is pouring out on America. There will come a day when we will once again proudly display the Commandments on our private and public walls.
