The Time Collection
...The Chronicle
The Lord Fought for a Nation …The Chronicle
One day soon after the vision
of time falling into eternity, I was coming home from Sunday Worship. The
Lord began to speak to me. He said, “do you remember the day the sun stood
still and I fought for a nation?” I thought to myself, “well vaguely”!
When I retuned home, I found the passage. To Paraphrase …because of the
voice of the leader, God fought for the nation as it took vengeance upon
their enemies. He said, as long as President Bush will cry out to Me; I
will heed him and ride with the “Great Eagle”. The rendering depicts the
Lord on a swift-steed riding to back up the United States.
That in the dispensation
of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in
Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him:
(Eph 1:10 KJV)
This collection began much in
the same way as the others in Renderings of The Heart TM. While
pondering the events of September 11th, I began to see Time.
Somehow time was running toward us, while simultaneously falling into
eternity. I began to see that while time creeps slowly upon most of us
...for some it rushes upon them ...in a challenging and overwhelming way
...literally overtaking them. For those on “that day” time did indeed
overtake thousands of souls in an instant and usher them into eternity.
Now listen,
you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a
year there, carry on business, and make money”. Why, you do not even
know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that
appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:13-14 NIV)
God, an eternal being ...not limited by time set apart a
portion of Eternity and called it time. Time was necessary for His
dealings with mankind. He then divided time into segments ...days, nights
and seasons. Since He knew the end from the beginning ...there are
"appointed times, places and meetings”, written in His book.
He has made
everything beautiful in ITS time. He has also set eternity in the hearts
of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
(Eccl 3:11 NIV)
My prayer is that the “Time
Collection” will bring an awareness of how “precious” time is. Tomorrow is
promised to no man;
Oh that we would be like the
children of Issachar ...understanding the times and knowing what ought to
be done in times of war. They went forth ...experts in war; they could
keep rank and were not of a double mind and heart. Although as believers
under the new covenant our warfare is different; we are called to be
experts in spiritual warfare. We must be sensitive to the times and
seasons we are in ...making the most of time, because the days are evil.
(Eph 5:15-16 NRSV paraphrased)
